CLUB DESIGN

This project was to redesign floor three of the DJCAD building which used to be a chilled cafe/club space for art students.

My art school club design is based on the theme transformation. The key to this is reflected by the lighting, décor and aura of the space. Each room that a person enters in this space will feel a calmer chill mood or composure. I have been inspired by Claudy Jongstra and her beautiful textile work which hangs on walls and in a space. I have included some of my own material work within the space which has colours that ties into the theme.

The colour of the lighting is mostly a cooling purple. From the purple glass in the windows there is a soothing tone from the natural light that comes through, providing a nice atmosphere.

Grey brick and wall colour have been used because grey is known to have a soothing or cooling presence. I have included some splashes of purple paint on some walls and on bar tops to keep colour flowing through.

By using hanging material that is translucent allows natural light to flow through as well as giving some privacy in seating areas.
